C Tech's Revised Pricing for EVS

We hope that it will not come as a shocking surprise, but C Tech finds itself in a position where we must revise our pricing. Our last price increase was effective February 2022, and the changes outlined below are effective immediately. Current pricing is always available on the Price List.

Why Pricing Is Changing

There are four primary reasons for this pricing change:

  1. Inflation: Over the past three years, U.S. baseline inflation per the Federal Reserve Bank has totaled 16%, and the U.S. Consumer Price Index for Information Technology, Hardware and Services has totaled 23%.
  2. Industry consolidation: Over the same three-year period, a growing number of acquisitions have seen our larger Enterprise License customers absorb many of our smaller and midsize customers. In most of these cases, our Enterprise staff size categories resulted in little or no price increase for the acquiring organization, while C Tech loses all future revenue from the acquired companies.
  3. Web Viewer hosting costs: Continual improvements in functionality for C Tech’s Web Viewer are fueling a worldwide increase in its use, which comes with dramatic increases in C Tech’s hosting costs.
  4. Industry licensing trends: The latest trend among leading engineering software companies (Autodesk, ESRI, SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, and others) has been to move from perpetual software licenses with optional annual maintenance to subscription-based licensing. We are moving in this direction, but will offer rewards and transitional pricing to existing customers who purchased perpetual licenses and have kept their maintenance current.

Enterprise License Pricing

  • A 20% increase to current Enterprise License Subscription rates
  • All Enterprise Licenses now include C Tech’s Automation System, for which dramatic usability improvements for automation of EVS are coming soon. Customers whose licenses previously included the Automation System will see a reduction in their total license fees
  • Enterprise customers now have the option of USB dongles or software licensing on their servers. New servers in excess of the number included with your Program Level are subject to an additional fee of $250 each, whether dongle or software based
  • No changes to Enterprise Staff Size Levels
  • No changes to Add-on product percentages

Fixed and Floating License Pricing

  • C Tech will no longer sell perpetual licenses
  • Fixed license subscriptions: $6,995 per year, $2,995 per quarter, or $1,795 per month
  • Floating license subscriptions: $9,995 per year or $4,495 per quarter
  • No discounts apply for multiple Fixed or Floating licenses

Transition for Existing Customers

This change marks the shift from the previous “perpetual license plus annual maintenance” model to a 100% subscription model. To ease that transition for our long-time customers:

  • License conversion: existing customers with current maintenance can convert their existing licenses directly to the new subscription, keeping uninterrupted access to updates and support
  • Transitional pricing through 2028: converted licenses pay their 2024 maintenance rate in 2025, then follow a transitional schedule in which each year’s rate gradually shifts toward the full subscription price, reaching standard subscription pricing by 2028
  • Additional subscriptions: these existing customers can add any number of additional Fixed or Floating license subscriptions at the reduced transitional subscription rates
