C Tech develops Earth Volumetric Studio (EVS), software used worldwide by environmental scientists and engineers to model and visualize subsurface conditions: groundwater contamination, geologic structure, and remediation projects. We’re hiring one or two students to help modernize our training content and documentation.
Part-time | Remote (Maine) | $20-22/hour | 1-2 positions
Apply NowWhat You’ll Do
- Recreate our existing training videos using the current version of EVS: watch an existing tutorial, perform the workflow yourself in today’s software, and capture it using Guidde (an AI-assisted documentation tool that handles recording and narration; no video editing experience needed).
- Update and improve our technical documentation as workflows and features change.
- Flag differences between older training materials and current software behavior as you find them.
Who We’re Looking For
- Current college student in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, GIS, or technical writing.
- Able to follow a technical workflow step-by-step and reproduce it independently. This is the core skill.
- Clear, precise writing.
- Comfortable learning complex desktop software on your own. We’ll train you on EVS; no prior EVS experience expected.
- Windows computer required (you’ll work on your own machine; EVS is Windows-only).
Nice to Have
- ArcGIS or QGIS experience
- Coursework in groundwater, contaminant transport, or geostatistics
- Prior experience writing tutorials, lab guides, or documentation
Logistics
- $20-22/hour, depending on experience.
- Fully remote. We’re looking for Maine-based students able to travel to Yarmouth (Portland area) occasionally if needed.
- 15 hours/week suggested during the semester (10 hours/week minimum), flexible around classes. Full-time hours available during summer and breaks.
- Your published tutorials and documentation will be used by practicing environmental professionals worldwide: real portfolio material.
